22 Townhouses | South Boston, MA | built 2011 – 2012
Senior Designer with Utile, Inc. | Boston, MA
The same townhouse is arrayed in book-matched pairs along the edge of a triangular lot at the corner of E. and W. 1st Streets in South Boston. The houses are located up against the street edge, faced with a front stoop, to merge with the density and character of the neighborhood. The townhouses are packed with efficient storage to combat the compactness of the plan and maximize living space in a flexible layout, designed to adapt to a variety of live/work or family needs. Each unit has three rooms, to be used for either bedroom or office space, two bathrooms, and an open-plan kitchen/living space on the main floor at level 2, overlooking the street. Decks at the top floor offer views to downtown Boston and the harbor, providing valuable private outdoor space for each home.
Responsibilities included project design, client communication, production of construction drawings, and on-site construction administration through building completion including LEED management. This project is LEED Gold certified.
